#Woof: Huskies Land Elite In-State 2025 Linebacker

Washington picked up a commitment from 4-star Linebacker Zaydrius-Rainey Sale

NCAA Football: Sugar Bowl-Texas at Washington John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Happy national championship day to all Husky fans! The Dawgs started off the day with great news when 2025 4-star linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale committed to Washington.

The Huskies were able to land Rainey-Sale after a massive push from Florida State, Miami, Oregon, and Penn State. Several crystal ball picks were made for him to end up at FSU but he didn’t commit a few days ago as previously scheduled and it became clear the Husky coaching staff made him a priority and was able to get him to stay home. Washington did not sign an in-state scholarship player in the class of 2024 for the first time in recent memory.

Rainey-Sales is the top ranked prospect in the state of Washington in the 2025 class and is listed at 6’2” 220 pounds. 247 Sports has him rated as the 79th best player in the country and 12th best linebacker.

He’s a very explosive player who can line up as an edge player if needed but also plays middle linebacker (it will be interesting to see where he plays). Washington is currently in a position where it needs to build back its depth at inside linebacker after Tuputala, Bruener, and Barr all graduate following the 2024 season.

Zaydrius Rainey-Sale is the 3rd commit in the 2025 class, joining QB Jackson Kollock and DL Josiah Sharma.
