Which Dawgs got their teams into the Christmas spirit this week?

Welcome to Week 16 of the NFL season, and I would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! We’ve got plenty of festive football, and some very good former Dawgs to get to, so let’s start with Thursday Night Football.

Puka Nacua and the Rams hosted the Saints at SoFi Stadium. Nacua continues making his case for Offensive Rookie of the Year, as he paced every Rams pass catcher with 9 catches for 164 yards and a touchdown, plus 2 carries for 16 yards. The Rams won 30-22 to improve to 8-7 and stay alive in the Wild Card hunt.

The Saturday afternoon games continued with the Steelers taking on Jake Browning and the division rival Bengals at home in Pittsburgh. Jake Browning had his worst performance of the season so far. Despite tossing an 80 yard touchdown, Browning finished with 3 interceptions to go along with 335 yards as the Bengals lost 34-11. Not the best of performances but we’ll see if he can turn it around with one game left to play in the regular season!

On Peacock (exclusively, for some reason), the Bills took on the Chargers. Taylor Rapp once again paced the Bills with 9 tackles (7 solo) as they hung on to beat the Chargers 24-22.

Onto Sunday’s slate of games now, first up we saw the Titans host the Seahawks. Will Dissly caught one pass for 6 yards for the Hawks. On the other side of the ball, Elijah Molden continued his run of production for the Titans, recording 6 tackles, 3 solo. Ultimately, the Seahawks won in a close one, 20-17, to keep their playoff hopes afloat.

The Lions traveled to Minnesota to take on the Vikings. Levi Onwunzurike recorded a quarterback hit as the Lions clinched the NFC North title for the first time since 1992, winning 30-24 over the Vikes.

The NFC South leading Bucs hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Three Dawg Night front of Vea, Tryon-Shoyinka and Gaines was once again fairly quiet. Joe Tryon-Shoyinka recorded 3 tackles, 2 solo, and Vita Vea recorded one total tackle. Cade Otton also hauled in his only catch for 7 yards. Despite quiet performances from Tampa’s pro Dawgs, they came away with an impressive victory, as they won 30-12.

The Pro Dawgs on these next 2 defenses wrecked havoc as the Bears took on the Cardinals at Soldier Field. Budda Baker had 10 tackles (7 solo) for the Cardinals, and Kyler Gordon stuffed the stat sheet with 6 solo tackles, a sack and a pass deflection as the Bears won 27-16. Both DBs are working their way up the ladder in terms of the best defensive backs in the NFL!

In primetime, the Broncos took on the Pats. Myles Bryant had 7 tackles (6 solo), 1 solo tackle and a pass deflection, as the Patriots won, 26-23.

On Christmas Day, the newly resurgent Raiders will take on the Chiefs and Trent McDuffie.

Merry Christmas and go Dawgs!
