#Woof: Huskies Land A Transfer Defensive Lineman

Washington gets a commitment from the ASU star pass rusher

Happy Sunday Husky fans (again). The Huskies got some more good news today when former ASU defensive lineman BJ Green committed to UW. Green, whose commitment came out of left field, had 11.5 TFL and 6 sacks last year for the Sun Devils on the way to being named 2nd team all-conference

Listed at 6’1” and around 270 pounds, Green originally walked on at ASU (playing his freshman year) before earning a scholarship after a season in Tempe where he had 5 sacks. He played heavily as a reserve as a sophomore picking up another 2.5 QB takedowns before his true breakout this season. Green finished 3rd in the Pac-12 in QB pressures behind only Bralen Trice and Laiatu Latu.

The Huskies have been looking at adding some much needed depth along the defensive line this offseason and Green is very similar to current Husky Voi Tunuufi (both can play inside on some downs, but also can slide outside and help set the edge and rush the passer).

Green is the 3rd transfer portal commit for the Huskies so far and will have 1 more season of eligibility (unless he decides to redshirt). The Huskies will lose Bralen Trice, and ZTF after this year so added some experienced depth along the edge/defensive line was critical for the staff to address for the 2024 season.

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
