Washington has picked up a commitment from edge rusher Lance Holtzclaw

NCAA Football: Stanford at Washington Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Huskies got some good news from the desert when 3-star outside linebacker Lance Hotlzclaw from Desert Ridge HS, AZ committed to UW over offers from Vanderbilt, Boise State, Michigan, and Boston College.

Listed at around 6’4” and 200 pounds Holtzclaw is a good athlete that plays wide receiver as well as defense for his team. 247 Sports has Holtzclaw rated as the 37th best edge rusher and 10th best player from Arizona.

Last season, in a 6 game season, Holtzclaw was able to accumulate 27 tackles and 2 sacks. The Huskies love the athleticism that Holtzclaw brings and after a redshirt freshmen season he should be able to compete for playing time at outside linebacker. Lots of experts have compared Holtzclaw’s game to former Husky Travis Feeney.

For a more in-depth analysis of his play you can check out our own Coach B’s profile on Holtzclaw from a few weeks ago right here.

Holtzclaw becomes the 8th commitment in the class of 2022 and the 2nd on defense. He also is now the 3rd official visitor from a few weekends ago to pledge to the Dawgs.

Welcome to Montlake, Lance! That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
