Recruiting Roundup: Which Recruits Are Visiting In June

NCAA Football: Utah at Washington Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Sunday Husky fans. I hope you are having a good Memorial Day weekend. The Husky coaches are more than likely resting this weekend before the recruiting season is set to really kick off, with the dead period ending and visits starting to happen again starting June 1st. Today I wanted to take a look at some of the players who are set to visit Montlake in June.

5 star defensive tackle JT Tuimoloau from Eastside Catholic HS, WA has narrowed his choice of schools down to a top 5 list of USC, Ohio State, Alabama, UW, and Oregon. The Huskies get the first crack at impressing Tuimoloau next weekend when he is scheduled to visit the Huskies and spend time with the coaches. As the highest rated 2022 to not sign yet, Tuimoloau would be a massive get for the UW but they are battling some heavyweights to try to land him. It sounds like the Huskies have made up a ton of ground, but they still have some work to do to convince Tuimoloau that UW is the best choice for him. If I had to guess right now I’d say he is leaning to Ohio State or Alabama and UW is running third but it’s close between the top schools.

4 star running back Emeka Megwa from Timber Creek HS, TX is set to visit UW the last weekend in June. The Huskies are recruiting Megwa as a running back and they would love to add him to their 2022 class. Rated as the 24th best athlete in the 2022 class, Megwa has been adamant on playing running back, and UW is one of the schools pushing hard for him. Right now UW is leading for Megwa and if they continue to push for him they should be able to land him after his visit. Megwa would be a great fit with the Husky offense (he is a classic Myles Gaskin type of running back).

4 star outside linebacker Tevarau Tafiti from Punahou HS, HI is also set to visit the Huskies the last weekend of June. Rated as the 245th best player in the country, the Huskies are looking at Tafiti as an outside linebacker. Right now Tafiti has 3 visits scheduled in the month of June, Vanderbilt gets the first crack with Stanford hosting him before he heads to Montlake. The Huskies have a good shot at landing Tafiti if they keep prioritizing him.

4 star tight end Ryan Otton is also set to visit UW the last weekend of July, and in my opinion it’s a matter of when not if he will commit to UW. The Huskies will try to wrap him up after or on his visit. Rated as the 5th best tight end in the 2022 class, the Huskies would love to add Otton to the tight end room and help fill the void when his brother Cade heads to the NFL after the 2021 season. The primary competition for Otton is Stanford but the Huskies should be able to win his commitment after he visits.

There are several other guys who are close to setting up visits including 3 star cornerback Myles Pollard from Ravenwood HS, TN and 3 star defensive tackle Ben Roberts from East HS, UT. If and when they schedule their visits we will make sure to mention it here. The Huskies currently have 4 commits in the class and it wouldn’t be surprising if they ended the month of June with another couple of commits to the class.

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
