Recruiting Roundup: Taking A Look At The 2022 Class

Happy Sunday Husky fans. This next Wednesday is the late signing period for football, but it’s not expected that the Huskies will add anyone else on Wednesday to their 15 man 2021 class.

With that being the case I wanted to take look forward to the 2022 class again. Currently the Huskies have 4 commits in the class including 4 star wide receiver Germie Bernard (who is one of the top wideouts in the class), 3 star tight end Chance Bogan (who is one of the better tight ends, in the mold of a Hunter Bryant), 3 star defensive end Anthony Jones (who is a versatile athlete who will play the buck/rush end position), and 3 star defensive tackle Sir Mells (who is a bigger defensive tackle who is just coming into his own).

Right now it sounds like the class is expected to be a smaller class, probably 15-20 due to the amount of underclassmen on the roster. So far the Huskies have offered 58 players in the class (10 of which have committed to other schools already), with 4 being committed to the Huskies. Overall that leaves 75% of the board still uncommitted, but several of the guys offered are currently favoring other schools right now.

The Huskies are likely going to offer more players once more prospects are able to put some junior year film on tape this spring. Historically speaking the Huskies extend around 100 offers or less in a given class.

As I have mentioned before the 2022 in state class is loaded and the Huskies are already after several of the top prospects including 4 star offensive tackle Josh Conerly from Rainier Beach HS, WA (who is rated as the 56th best player in the 2022 class), and 4 star wideout Tobias Merriweather from Union HS, WA. Both players have offers from around the county and the Huskies will have a fight on their hands to land them.

The Huskies have offered 10 players in state already in the 2022 class and there are probably another 2-3 that are likely to get offers before the dust settles. As of right now I would expect the Huskies to land 7-8 of the guys in state that they have offered. Here is who I think they would be able to land if signing day was today:

3 star tight end Chance Bogan from Lincoln HS, WA.

3 star running back Djouvensky Schlenbaker from Squalicum HS, WA.

4 star tight end Ryan Otton from Tumwater Hs, WA.

4 star offensive tackle Josh Conerly from Rainier Beach HS, WA.

4 star offensive tackle Malik Agbo from Todd Beamer HS, WA.

3 star offensive guard Vega Ioane from Graham Kapowsin HS, WA.

3 star offensive guard Mark Nabou from O’Dea HS, WA.

I believe the Huskies will be able to fill out their entire offensive line class in state, but they will miss on one of the in state lineman (I put Dave Iuli on the miss list for now). I also think the Huskies may miss on Dishwan Misa a 4 star inside linebacker from Eastside Catholic who is looking heavily at Oregon and Boise State as well. I also believe Merriweather will end up at Oregon. If the Huskies could land the in-state players I listed they should be able wrap up a top 25 class in 2022.

Feel free to share your thoughts with me (if you agree or disagree), and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
