Recruiting Roundup: Huskies Make Top List Of Elite Safety

Happy Sunday Husky fans. The recruiting front is still a bit slow, and there hasn’t been much movement, however there are a few things that have happened over the last week.

4-star safety Zion Branch from Bishop Gorman HS, NV just narrowed his list of top schools to 11. The Huskies made his list which included Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Oregon, and USC. Listed at 6’2” and around 190 pounds Branch is rated as the 50th player and 4th safety in the country. The Huskies would love to land Branch who is an elite safety in the 2022 class. Branch is an instinctive and physical safety who can make plays all over the field.

The Huskies have some pretty stiff competition, but they will continue to battle for him until he makes his decision. The Huskies have also offered his younger brother Zachariah Branch, who is a wideout in the 2023 class. The Huskies have only offered 8 prospects in the 2023 class, which tells you how the Husky coaches view both Branch brothers.

The other piece of news is that 4-star defensive end Gracen Helton from Saint Augustine HS, CA is announcing on the 27th of January. Listed at 6’4” and 250 pounds Helton is rated as the 227th best player and 11th best weakside defensive end in the 2022 class. It sounds like Oregon is the favorite to land his commitment, but the Huskies will continue to recruit Helton until he makes his decision.

If the Huskies miss on Helton watch for 4-star defensive end Nate Burrell from St. John Bosco HS, CA who is high on UW. Burrell is a tad smaller but quicker than Helton and both players are being recruited at the rush end position.

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
