- When a significant portion of the players in the conference get together behind common interests, it’s going to make news. Larry Stone at the Seattle Times catalogs some of the factors that have led to gathering athlete empowerment.
- Meanwhile, a transcript of the call between WSU coach Nick Rolovich and WR Kassidy Woods shows that Rolovich strongly implied that Woods’s spot on the team would be in jeopardy if he signed on with the Pac-12 Unity letter. Rolovich later apologized, not for what he said to Woods, but for the way the call “was constured.”
- Lots more on Pac-12 Unity: Player representatives met with the California governor’s office to discuss Covid protocols and NIL rules. ESPN CFB writers weighed in with the most important takeaways from the letter. Bomani Jones dives into the origins of the unity movement at The Undefeated. Larry Scott responded to the letter in a conciliatory tone, which is probably the right track if he wants to get the players to participate in the upcoming season.
- Much has been made of the loaded 2022 OL class in the state of Washington. Dawgman checks in on four-star Dave Iuli from Puyallup. Iuli is rated as the fifth best guard in the class.
