Wednesday Dots: Ty Jones, Jack Yary, and all the football in between

• Kicking off with a bit of shameless self-promotion: take a few minutes to listen to our interview with current Husky WR Ty Jones. Ty explains why he signed onto the Pac-12 Unity movement with some very reasonable points, then talks about why we should be excited about the direction of the Husky offense, and tells us about his own challenging upbringing. If nothing else, how often do you get to hear a current player talk candidly for 45 minutes?

• As previously indicated, Jack Yary officially committed to UW yesterday. The four-star TE prospect originally signed on with USC, but parted ways with the school and will join a suddenly impressive position group at Montlake.

• Christian Caple takes an early look at the new eligibility rules for 2021 and the impact it might have on the Husky roster.

• Elsewhere at The Athletic, Stewart Mandel identifies the best coordinators in new spots, and Max Olson tries to predict which late blooming blue chip prospects will emerge this season.

• The Big 10 commissioner continues to face challenges from players’ parents over the conference’s decision not to play games as scheduled in the fall.

• ESPN made a “Position Group U” ranking and left UW out of the top 10 producers of pro DBs.

• Several Huskies earned a mention in Todd McShay’s NFL Draft rankings. Joe Tryon led the way at #40 overall.

• By all accounts, 2021 QB commit Sam Huard will be a tough act to follow. Dawgman combs through the 2022 QB class to determine who might follow him to UW next year.

• The 49ers waived Salvon Ahmed prior to the start of his rookie campaign.
