Recruiting Roundup: Predicting How The 2021 Class Will Finish

Predicting How The 2021 Class Will Finish

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: DEC 21 Las Vegas Bowl - Boise State v Washington

Husky coaches are preparing for fall practice while also trying to wrap up their 2021 class (and star focusing on the 2022 class). With 14 commits the Huskies have only 4-6 spots left.

It sounds like the recruiting board is starting to narrow significantly and the Husky coaches are focusing their efforts on a few key targets. If I had to predict here is how I would predict the Husky class will finish:

At wide receiver the Huskies are after the best wide receiver in the country Emeka Egbuka from Steilacoom HS, WA. The Huskies are battling Oklahoma and Ohio State for Egbuka’s commitment. Rated as a 5 star wide receiver the Huskies would love to add Egbuka (who is listed at 6’1” and around 190 pounds). It sounds like Egbuka is going to wait a while to make his decision, which should help the Huskies ultimately win out and land Egbuka and his commitment. If the Huskies aren’t able to land Egbuka they will continue to pursue 4 star wide receiver Troy Franklin from Menlo-Atherton who is committed to Oregon currently (if they can’t land Egbuka or Franklin they may wait until 2022 to take 3 wideouts).

4 star tight end Brock Bowers from Napa HS, CA visited UW last weekend (on his own) after narrowing the list of schools to Georgia and UW. Although the Huskies were trailing Georgia for his commitment it does sound like the Huskies have made up a substantial amount of ground in his recruitment. Rated by 247sports as the #2 tight end in the country, I believe that the Huskies will ultimately land Bowers (especially if he waits a little longer before he commits). Landing Bowers would be a big-time pickup for the Huskies and wrap up their tight end recruiting for 2021.

At safety the Huskies would like to land Vincent Nunley from Freedom HS, CA who also holds offers from Kansas and Utah. Rated as the 97th best safety in the country Nunley looks like a good free safety and a good pickup for the Huskies. Right now the Huskies are in the drivers seat for Nunley and it looks like they will add him in a few weeks to the 2021 class. The Huskies are still recruiting a few cornerbacks in the hope that they can flip someone. A couple guys to pay attention to are 4 star defensive backs Phillip Riley from IMG Academy, FL and Denzel Burke from Saguaro HS, AZ.

Along the defensive line the Huskies are still recruiting 2 players: 5 star defensive tackle JT Tuimoloau from Eastside Catholic HS, WA and 4 star tackle Jacob Schuster from Tumwater HS, WA. The Huskies would take Tuimoloau no matter what, but right now he is favoring some other schools including Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Oregon. The Huskies will need to continue to recruit Tuimoloau hard until he makes his decision (he won’t decide until January or February of 2021). Schuster on the other hand is checking out a few of his options including Stanford and Cal, however the Huskies are lurking as a definite option for Schuster and if the Huskies can’t land Tuimoloau I do believe they would find a way to add Schuster to their 2021 class.

So to sum up here is who I see the Huskies adding to their 2021 class:

  • 5 star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka
  • 4 star tight end Brock Bowers
  • 3 star safety Vincent Nunley
  • 5 star defensive tackle JT Tuimoloau or 4 star Tackle Jacob Schuster
  • a flip from another school

The Huskies would end up with 19 commitments in the 2021 class and pivot towards the 2022 class (which I will write about next weekend).

I ran a Twitter poll to find out who Husky nation believe is the next commit. After over 100 votes here are the results:

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
