The Husky coaches got some great news today when 4-star wide receiver Germie Bernard from Liberty HS, NV committed to UW over offers from Miami, Oregon, ASU, and Penn State. That’s the same high school as current Husky OL Troy Fautanu from the 2019 class.
Bernard, who is a 2022 recruit, is listed at 6’2” and around 190 pounds (he looks like he may actually be closer to 200 when you watch some of offseason work). 247sports has Bernard rated as the 23rd best wide receiver in the 2022.
When you watch his film Bernard actually looks like a physical wide receiver who may be underrated (his route running and physical skill set is elite, however he does not appear to have that extra gear that guys like Jalen McMillan or Emeka Egbuka have). Bernard has been taking part in FSP 7 on 7 tournaments and catching balls from Sam Huard during those events which clearly helped the Huskies gain an advantage in his recruitment. Last season as a sophomore Bernard has 54 catches for 948 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Landing Bernard is a big pickup for the Huskies, and Junior Adams. Bernard is the first commit in the 2022 class.
110% COMMITTED‼️@CoachLakeUDUB
