- Christian Caple of The Athletic continues his countdown of the 10 most important Huskies for the upcoming season. The #7 entrant is Richard Newton, which may come as a bit of a surprise for those expecting a committee approach at RB. At the same time, the departure of Salvon Ahmed leaves lots of carries, and Newton’s potential is very high.
- The Huskies earned a spot in Ari Wasserman’s weekly Athletic recruiting roundup. The commitment of Owen Prentice landed the Huskies in his notes section.
- If you want a good eye roll this morning, ESPN breaks down the Elite 11 QB attendees. Sam Huard doesn’t earn a mention, even though he was invited to the camp and only missed out due to travel restrictions. ESPN’s own rankings have Huard as the #14 player and #1 QB in the class.
- Scott Eklund at Dawgman has been busy lately. He posted a summary of the in-state offensive line talent in the HS class of 2022 and pointed out that the Huskies could put together a great class without leaving the state. He also updated the recruitment of Louisiana TE Shield Taylor, who put the Huskies in his top 6 with a commitment coming soon (though Stanford looks like the probable favorite at the moment). If that wasn’t enough, Eklund also profiled speedy 2022 WR Darrius Clemons out of Portland.
- SI’s Husky Maven has a fun view of the NBA restart through the creative lens of Matisse Thybulle.
- Washington state officially moved some- but not all- high school sports to a spring season, including football. The change will certainly impact the recruiting timelines for players all the way down to freshman and sophomore classes.
