The 2021 class currently has 13 commits which is good for the 28th best class in the country (per 247 sports). With no visits likely to happen anytime soon it sounds like the Huskies will push forward with as many virtual visits as they can (recruits can visit a city and check out a campus without taking an unofficial to see the staff).
It sounds like there could be some good news coming soon and here are some guys to keep an eye on:
3 star cornerback Chance Tucker from Crespi HS, CA has been flying under the radar in recruiting rankings (but he would have likely seen a jump from offseason camps). Listed at 6’1” and around 170 pounds Tucker is a longer corner who is rated by 247sports as the 78th best cornerback in the country. The Huskies are battling Notre Dame, Colorado, and Oregon State for his commitment but he appears to be leaning towards UW right now. Turner looks like a true lockdown corner who makes great plays on the ball when it’s thrown his way.
4 star offensive lineman Owen Prentice from O’Dea HS, WA has narrowed his recruiting list to LSU, Stanford, and UW. Listed at 6’3” and around 295 pounds Prentice is rated as the 8th best guard and 115th best player in the country per 247sports. Stanford and UW have been battling for Prentice, but it looks like the Huskies may win out and keep Prentice in state and add to their depth along the offensive line. If the Huskies are able to land Prentice they will be getting a mauler along the line who projects as a guard.
3 star defensive back Vincent Nunley from Freedom HS, CA was offered by UW a few weeks ago. After the Huskies offered they immediately jumped up to one of Nunley’s favorite schools. Listed at 6’1” and around 180 pounds Nunley is being recruited as a safety by the Huskies. When you watch him play Nunley looks like a free safety (similar to Cam Williams). Nunley who has offers from Kansas, And Utah is rated as the 105th best cornerback in the country per 247sports. It sounds like a decision could be coming soon which should be good news for the Huskies.
Another interesting piece of recruiting news is that 4 star tight end Brock Bowers from Napa HS, CA has narrowed his list down to UW and Georgia. Listed at 6’3” and around 225 pounds, Bowers is rated as the 50th best player and 2nd best tight end in the country. Bowers is set to travel to UW to check out the campus (without meeting the staff) before he makes his decision, but it looks like Georgia has a pretty big lead right now. Bowers has never been to the UW campus, so the Huskies will have a chance to close the gap and land Bowers. Bowers is a similar tight end to former Husky Hunter Bryant. If the Huskies can land Bowers they would make a huge statement on the recruiting front and give the offense another weapon to use.
That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
