Good morning Husky fans. Even though it may appear like things are not going well for the Huskies right now I anticipate that to change once recruits are allowed to visit Husky Stadium and meet with the coaching staff. With 7 commitments in the 2021 class the Huskies have the 4th best class in the Pac12 right now according to 247sports. The Huskies are still heavily involved with some big-time players including 2 local 5 star prospects (defensive tackle JT Tuimoloau and wide receiver Emeka Egbuka) as well as some other highly ranked players. If Jimmy Lake and his staff can have a good season I do expect that the Huskies will be able to close some of their top prospects and land guys like Emeka and JT. Coach Lake is also implementing a similar strategy to that of Coach Pete, in that they both want prospects to visit campus before they pull the trigger and commit to the Huskies. There are several other schools in the Pac12 that are taking commitments from Prospects who haven’t visited and most recruiting experts believe that those schools will see some decommitments from some of those recruits.
Last week the Huskies offered a new 2021 wide receiver from Arizona. Isaiah Newcombe a 3 star wide receiver from Casteel HS AZ has been a steady riser on a lot of recruiting boards. Listed at around 6’1” and 185 pounds Newcombe is a speedster on the football field, and he currently holds offers from UCLA, Utah, and BSU. When you watch his tape you can see that he can run really well and is an elusive player with the ball in his hands. The Huskies are really trying to get more speed in their wide receiver room. Newcombe will more than likely visiting Montlake when things open back up. Newcombe is very similar to 4 star wide receiver Troy Franklin from Menlo Atherton HS, CA. Both players are fast and would be a great addition to the Husky offense.
That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
