#Woof: Huskies Land 3 Star California Defensive End

Washington adds an raw but athletic pass rusher in Maurice Heims

NCAA Football: California at Washington Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

The Huskies got some good news today when 3 star defensive end Maurice Heims from Santa Margarita committed to the Huskies. Heims, who is rated by 247sports as the 32nd best weakside defensive end in the country committed to UW over offers from Penn State, ASU, Illinois, Colorado, and WSU.

Listed at 6’5” and around 235 pounds Heims is relatively new to the game of football (he moved to the United States last year from Germany). Due to his move he was not allowed to play varsity football (he did play JV), but his frame and upside has Husky coaches excited. The Huskies are hoping Heims can grow into a Joe Tryon type player (he will need at least 1 year to bulk up and learn the nuisances of playing the Huskies defense). When you watch some his clips you can really see how athletic he is and how much upside he really has.

You can also read my interview with Heims from last week here.

Heims is the 9th commit in the 2020 class. That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
