Q&A With 3 Star Husky Target

NCAA Football: Washington at Stanford Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Saturday Husky fans. I was able to catch up with 3 star defensive end Maurice Heims from Santa Margarita HS, CA, who holds a UW offer. With offers from ASU, Penn State, Colorado, and WSU the Huskies have been recruiting Maurice for for a while. Listed at 6’5” and around 235 pounds Heims is rated by 247sports as the 32nd best weakside defensive end in the country.

You are originally from Germany, correct?

Yes I am originally from Germany and moved here last fall.

When did you first start playing football and why did you start playing versus basketball or soccer?

I originally played soccer for 8+ Years but then lost the fun in it so a friend of mine took me to football practice where I immediately fell in love with the game and started as a Receiver.

When did you first start hearing from UW and what were your first impressions of the school?

I first started hearing from UW during winter and i was really happy after the offer since it’s a great program in a city that reminds me of home and also the coaching staff is great!

Which position is UW recruiting you at?

They’re recruiting me as a Outside Linebacker/Edge Rusher.

What other schools besides UW are you looking most at?

The schools that recruit me the most are Colorado, Penn state and Illinois.

What are you looking for in a school you commit to?

I’m just really looking for a all around total fit and it should have this special feeling so I’ll be comfortable spending the next 3-4 years at.

When are you wanting to have your decision made?

I’m planning on signing and committing with my family and old teammates back in Germany around December 18th!

Here are some of his highlights:
