Huskies Extend Some New Offers & Other Notes

Happy Memorial Day weekend Husky fans. There is a lot going in recruiting right now and there should be some good news headed our way tonight. 3 star Tight end Quentin Moore from Independence community college will be making his decision at around 4pm and the Huskies are the favorite to land him. The Huskies want to add at least 2 tight ends in the 2021 class and landing Moore would be a big-time addition for the room. If he does commit we will have something posted about him.

The Husky coaches have also seen some changes to their recruiting board which has led to some new offers being extended:

3 star cornerback Dyson McCutcheon from Bishop Amat HS, CA was offered by Coach Lake and Harris. Listed at 5’10” and around 165 pounds McCutcheon holds offers from around the country including USC, Cal, Notre Dame, and Michigan. 247sports has him rated as the 27th best cornerback in the country. When you watch him play you can see that he plays with a ton of confidence and uses his speed and instincts to make plays all over the field. His dad played at USC and in the NFL, howeve led he was hoping for a Husky offer and the Dawgs look like they are in good shape to land him (once he visits with his family).

3 star safety Placide Djungu-Sungu from Martin HS, TX was also offered by the Huskies. Listed at around 6’0” and 170 pounds Djungu-Sungu holds offers from Duke, Utah, and Northwestern. 247sports has him rated as the 63rd best safety in the country. When you watch him play you can see that he has good range and isn’t afraid to tackle wideouts, and he could be a diamond in the rough of the Huskies can land him. The Huskies need to add at least 1 safety in the 2021 class and if they can add Djungu-Sungu they can probably redshirt him and let him learn for a few years before he would be ready to start.

3 star cornerback Chance Tucker was another player who the Huskies have been scouting for a while and finally offered him. Listed at 6’1” and around 170 pounds Tucker has the size that the Huskies like at corner. With offers from Colorado, Boise State, and BYU Tucker has good hands (from his wide receiver skills probably), and you can tell he has a lot of tools that the Husky coaches can work with. 247sports has Tucker rated as the 77th best cornerback in the country (however his stock will probably rise if he is able to put some tape from his senior season on film).

The Huskies also extended 2 new offers in the 2022 class to 4 star linebacker Dishawn Misa from Eastside Catholic and 3 star cornerback Benjamin Morrison from Brophy Prep HS, AZ. Both players are a ways away from making their decisions but the Huskies are definitely early favorites for both players.

Another newsworthy topic was that 5 star defensive lineman JT Tuimoloau was offered by Coach Hopkins to play Basketball if he opts to play for the Huskies (and play both football and basketball if he chooses). The Huskies have made some very smart moves and offering JT the ability to play both positions will really help them in their pursuit of JT (they were his first offer and the first school to offer him to play both sports). There is still a ways to go in his recruitment but by all accounts the Huskies are battling USC, and Ohio State for his commitment.

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
