Q&A With 4 Star Cornerback

This weekend I was able to catch up with 4 star cornerback Steven Ortiz from Desert Edge HS, AZ. Ortiz was offered after he visited campus back in February. Listed at around 5’10” and around 170 pounds Ortiz is rated by 247sports as the 17th best cornerback in the country and here is what he had to say about UW.

You visited UW in February. What did you think of UW and what was the highlight?

I loved it there and the highlight was getting the offer from coach Lake.

When you got the UW offer what did you think?

I was hype when I got the offer.

Which coach from UW is recruiting you?

Coach Lake and Coach Harris.

Besides UW what other schools are you looking at?

Minnesota, Penn State, Oregon, Oregon State, Nebraska, Duke, and Arizona.

What are you looking for in a school that you ultimately commit to?

Just a great fit for myself as a player and a person.

When do you plan on committing?

By August 1st.

How would you describe yourself as a football player?

I would describe myself as a dog. Someone who is gonna work hard and play every down with an edge.

The Huskies are looking like they are in a good spot for Ortiz right now. Hopefully the Huskies can Ortiz back on Campus before August 1st to land his commitment. It sounds like they are recruiting him as a true cornerback in the 2021 class. The Huskies already have a commitment from 3 star cornerback Zakhari Spears from Loyola HS, CA. Here are some of his highlights:

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
