Husky coaches are dealing with the dead period and the effects of the Covid-19, however prior to the dead period starting the Huskies were able to get a 4 star safety on campus.
4 star safety JD Coffey from Kennedale HS, TX was on campus last weekend after making his way up from Texas. Coffey was offered a while ago and has been a priority for the Huskies for a while (he is the only true safety that the Huskies have offered). With 30 offers including offers from Texas, Michigan, LSU, and Oregon the Huskies have some stiff competition for Coffey. Listed at 6’0” and around 185 pounds Coffey is more of a free safety in an Earl Thomas way, which is to say that he covers a ton of ground on the back end and is a ballhawk. Getting Coffey up on an unofficial was a big deal and the hope is that the Huskies make his top 5 and land an official visit from him.
The other big news this last week was that the Huskies offered tight end Quentin Moore from Independence Community College (Moore who is originally from Kenmore). Moore who has offers from around the country including Nebraska, Tennessee, Miami, and Oklahoma State. Listed at 6’5” and around 240 pounds Moore would be a good pickup for the Huskies and a good bridge to the young tight ends if Cade Orrin leaves UW early. The Huskies are considered a favorite for Moore now that they have offered.
That is all for now, stay safe and recruiting will be slow for the next few weeks during the dead period. As always follow me @asieverkropp.
