The Huskies currently have 2 commits in the 2021 class so far (5 star quarterback Sam Huard and 3 star cornerback Zakhari Spears). The Huskies have extended 65 offers in the 2021 class so far and I thought it would be a good idea to look at a couple of players who could be the next to Woof (feel free to make your predictions down in the comments section):
4 star wide receiver Junior Alexander from Kennedy Catholic HS, WA has been high on the Huskies priority list since he was offered. Listed at 6’2” and around 170 pounds Alexander is a tall and lengthy receiver who happens to catch passes from Sam Huard. 247sports just updated their rankings and Alexander is now ranked as the 33rd best wideout in the country and 207th best player in the country. With offers from Nebraska, Cal, and Oregon the Huskies have some stiff competition for Alexander, however the Huskies are an offer he was waiting for and I think he will commit to the Huskies this spring becoming the first wide receiver commit in the 2021 class.
4 star cornerback Steven Ortiz from Desert Edge HS, AZ was offered by UW back in February after unofficially visiting Montlake. The Huskies immediately jumped to the top of his list and are battling the likes of Oregon and Penn State for his commitment. Listed at around 5’10” and around 170 pounds Ortiz is rated as the 18th best cornerback in the 2021 class by 247sports. Ortiz, whose dad is a coach at Desert Edge, will visit some a few schools this spring (the big tip off of where he will go is when he brings his Mom on the trip, but he said he loved his visit to UW). The Huskies will need to bring in 2 corners in the 2021 class and Ortiz would be a great pickup for the Huskies (the biggest competition for UW is Oregon for Ortiz’s commitment). In the end assuming the Huskies don’t offer and go heavily after a guy like 4 star cornerback Ceyair Wright the Huskies should be able to wrap up Ortiz this spring.
4 star linebacker Julien Simon from Lincoln HS, WA is another player that I believe will commit to the Huskies this spring. Listed at around 6’2” and 220 pounds Simon is being recruited by the Huskies as a linebacker but has the athletic ability to play on offense as well. Simon is currently rated by 247sports as the 98th best player and 4th best athlete in the country. He holds offers from around the country including Auburn, Penn State, Oregon, and USC. The Huskies have been a favorite for Simon for a while and with the Huskies having the need for some linebackers to play right away they should be able to close out Simon later this spring. The Huskies have had a good history of landing players from Lincoln HS including Lawyer Milloy and Stafford Mays.
The Huskies will offer some more players in the 2021 class who aren’t included on this list but right now the guys listed above are players that I think are likely to commit this spring (as of right now). That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
