Happy New Year’s Eve Husky fans. The Huskies added a grad transfer QB today when Patrick O’Brien (from Colorado State), committed to UW. After the recent departure of both Ethan Garbers and Jacob Sirmon the Huskies were down to 2 scholarship quarterbacks for the 2021 season. O’Brien is listed at 6’5” and around 235 pounds and last year he threw for 2,800 yards and 13 touchdowns (versus 7 interceptions). His completion percentage was 61.8 on the season. In a shortened 2020 season he threw for just under 600 yards and 3 touchdowns versus 2 interceptions. Picking up O’Brien gives the Huskies another seasoned QB who is a pocket passer and will compete for the starting job in 2021. O’Brien looks to have a strong arm, and is a good fit for the Husky offense that we saw in 2020.
Everyone’s journey is different and my college experience has taken me to some incredible places. I am so thankful for every opportunity that has been given to me. With that I would like to announce my commitment to the University of Washington.#GoDawgs pic.twitter.com/aVS5nSZgcv
