Sam Huard is a Husky!

Just like Uncle Brock, a lefty with arm talent to spare

Brock Huard #7

The Washington Huskies have their 2021 quarterback commitment, and it’s the #1 Pro Style QB in the entire country.

The slender lefty out of Kennedy Catholic (Burien, WA) is listed at 6’2 and 190 pounds. He’s rated as a 0.9936 prospect in the 247 Sports Composite, making Huard the #12 overall recruit in the entire country. He enters his senior season just 1,303 yards away from breaking Washington’s state record set by Brett Rypien.

Huard will finish up his high school career at Kennedy Catholic instead of enrolling at Washington this spring. He was on track to graduate from high school in December.

Sam is the son of former UW and NFL quarterback Damon Huard, and nephew of Damon’s brother Brock Huard, who also quarterbacked the Huskies. Another uncle, Luke Huard, played Division I football at North Carolina.

As for Sam, the five-star recruit currently plans to play the newly created 2021 spring season at Kennedy Catholic High School in nearby Burien. He committed to UW way back in November of 2018 when Chris Petersen was the head coach.

Here’s the scouting report on Huard from Brandon Huffman:

“Quick, effortless release, no wasted motion. Can make all the throws, equally adept at the deep ball while also delivering the short and intermediate throws with ease. Can run if needed but prefers to stay in the pocket and throw open receivers. High football IQ- can read the defense, get through progressions and deliver the ball. Excellent accuracy and able to fit the ball in tight windows. Has cut down on riskier throws from earlier in career. Excellent bloodlines- father is former NFL starter while two uncles also played quarterback at the FBS level, one a former NFL quarterback. Projects as an immediate Power 5 starter and future first round NFL draft pick.”

There’s a little bit of Ken Griffey, Jr in watching this guy throw a football. It’s just pleasing to the eye:
