Happy Sunday Husky Fans. This morning I wanted to spotlight a few of the Husky commits that are actually playing right now.
3 star running back Caleb Berry from Lufkin HS, TX has missed a couple of games due to injury, but this last week he returned with a force. He carried the ball 28 times for 155 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 2 catches for 55 yards and a score in his teams win over Porter HS, TX. Listed at 6’0” and around 213 pounds Berry has been working hard to become a more complete back and watching him run it looks like he’s becoming more of a physical runner who is trying to punish defenses and wear them down (similar to what we have heard Husky coaches say they want to see out of their backs). It also looks like Berry has been working on his straight line speed which looks like it has improved from last year.
3 star defensive tackle Voi Tunuufi from East HS, UT is having an excellent senior season and is averaging over 10 tackles a game for his team (which is struggling a little bit this year). After 10 games Tunuufi has 107 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. When you watch him play you can see that Tunuufi is a handful along the defensive line and will be a wrecking back for the Huskies in the pac 12. I wouldn’t be surprised if he rises in the final rankings when the networks update their final 2021 rankings.
.@UW_Football 2021 commit @voitunuufi a DL prospect from Utah...with a TFL in his team’s 29-28 loss to Bingham last night...the future Husky had 16 tackles (3 solo) and three TFLs in the game... @MalloeMalloe @JackMcCauley_ @KimGrinolds @CoachK_UW @Chris_Fetters pic.twitter.com/ZPUKISJLkd— Scott Eklund (@ScottEklund) September 27, 2020
The balance of the Husky commits should be suiting up in the spring (unless they are planning on enrolling early).
Next weekend I’ll continue to look at the 2022 targets and share any updates with you all. That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
