The Husky coaches decided to use this weekend as a large recruiting weekend for some of their key 2021 prospects (most of them attended the basketball game as well). Washington state is loaded with talent for the 2021 class with 3 prospects rated as 5 stars and several others rated as 4 star players. The Husky coaches are trying to land as much of the local talent as they can and sell the recruits on being hometown hero’s. Husky coaches also extended several offers to some 2021 prospects from outside the state. Current 5 star quarterback commit Sam Huard was on campus to help the Husky coaches in their recruiting efforts. Here is a look at who was at Montlake this weekend:
5 star defensive lineman JT Tuimoloau from Eastside Catholic HS, WA who holds a Husky offer was in town and had a chance to hang out with several of the other prospects. Rated by 247sports as the #1 player in the country Tuimoloau is probably at the top of the Huskies wish list for 2021 and if they can lock him up they will have beaten schools like Alabama, USC, Ohio State, and Oregon for him.
5 star wideout Emeka Egbuka from Steilacoom HS, WA was also town for the day. Egbuka is ranked as the 8th best prospect in the 2021 class (per 247sports) and also one of the top wideouts in the class. Egbuka is a key target for the Huskies (who will try and take 2 wideouts in 2021). The Huskies will be battling Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama, and Oregon for his services.

4 star cornerback Steven Ortiz from Desert Edge HS, AZ was in town for the day and got a Husky offer while he was on campus. Listed at around 5’10” and 170 pounds, and rated as the 13th best cornerback in the country, Ortiz holds offers from the likes of Penn State, and Oregon. The Huskies have been a school Ortiz likes and wanted an offer from, and it sounds like UW will be a school he is looking at right up to when he makes his decision.

4 star linebacker Julien Simon from Lincoln HS, WA, who currently holds a Husky offer, was also hanging out on campus. Listed at 6’2” and around 220 pounds Simon is rated as the 33rd best prospect and 4th best athlete in the country. The Huskies are battling Oregon, Stanford, Penn State, and several other national powers for his commitment. The Huskies are recruiting Simon at linebacker but he is a good enough athlete to potentially play on offense as well.
Had a great time at UW thanks for the hospitality, Loved the vibes it was special pic.twitter.com/999zV8dNR8

4 star athlete Denzel Burke from Saguaro HS, AZ flew up to Seattle and received a Husky offer while in town. Listed at around 6’0 and 190 pounds Burke is ranked as the 12th best athlete In the country, but it looks like the Huskies are recruiting him as a DB. With offers from LSU, Oregon, and USC the Huskies will have their work cut out landing Burke but they were able to get him on campus unofficially which speaks volumes for his interest.
Blessed to earn an offer from the University of Washingtion!! #PurpleReign pic.twitter.com/XzahGPnVEk

Also on campus were local prospects (with Husky offers) 3 star wideout Junior Alexander from Kennedy Catholic HS, WA and 4 star offensive lineman Owen Prentice from O’Dea HS, WA. 4 star wideout Jabez Tinae from Kennedy Catholic HS, WA was on campus as well but he doesn’t currently have an offer from UW. 4 star linebacker Will Latu from Bethel HS, WA (who does have an offer from UW) was also in town for the big weekend.

If the Huskies can wrap up the local 2021 stars in Washington state they will be well on their way to a top 10 class in 2021, and it sounds like Jimmy Lake is going to make the local prospects a huge priority going forward. Most of the coaching staff actually travelled around the state to check in with local schools (Lakes, Garfield, Lincoln...etc.).
That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
