Here’s a recap of how all your favorite former Dawgs performed on the opening weekend of the NFL
Bengals: WR John Ross had a fantastic homecoming, catching seven passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns as the Bengals came up just short in Seattle. TE Drew Sample played three snaps but recorded no stats.
Seahawks: TE Will Dissly had a reception for 12 yards in the narrow win over the Bengals but left the game with a right knee injury, listed doubtful to return when he left.
Edit: LB Ben Burr-Kirven played on special teams and forced a fumble.
Rams: MLB Cory Littleton did something never done before in Rams history, making 14 tackles while also recording an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery as the Rams escaped with a win at Carolina. S Taylor Rapp had four tackles in his NFL debut, as did CB Marcus Peters. C Coleman Shelton and DT Greg Gaines did not play.
Panthers: OLB Shaq Thompson tied for the team lead with nine tackles for Carolina vs the Rams.
Patriots: DT Danny Shelton was a force as the Patriots completely neutralized Pittsburgh’s rushing attack (32 yards on 13 carries) en route to a blowout win. He made just one official tackle, but it was a big one, stopping James Conner on third & 1 in the second quarter.
Packers: CB Kevin King had a strong game despite limited snaps (58 percent) in the Packers’ win at Chicago, earning a sack among five tackles and a pass deflection. He sat out the preseason due to a sore hamstring.
Cardinals: FS Budda Baker had eight tackles in Arizona’s tie against the Lions, while CB Byron Murphy had five in his NFL debut and S Zeke Turner added two on special teams. TE Darrell Daniels was added to the practice squad just before the game but did not play.
Bucs: DT Vita Vea made three tackles and applied significant pressure to the San Francisco passing game.
49ers: WR Dante Pettis played just two snaps in the 49ers win over Tampa Bay, although he did catch a seven-yard pass. He only returned to practice last week after recovering from a groin injury.
Falcons: CB Desmond Trufant played but recorded no stats in the Falcons’ ugly loss at Minnesota. OT Kaleb McGary started at right tackle but rotated in and out as the entire offensive line struggled for Atlanta. CB Jordan Miller was a healthy scratch.
Eagles: CB Sidney Jones got burned once on a deep pass, but made three tackles and was solid in coverage otherwise as the Eagles rallied from 17 down to beat Washington.
Dolphins: RB Myles Gaskin was a healthy scratch from Miami’s blowout loss to Baltimore.
Four Huskies are on NFL practice squads: WR Marvin Hall (Lions), QB Jake Browning (Vikings), TE Joshua Perkins (Eagles) and G Jake Eldrenkamp (Colts)
