How to Watch, Stream, and Chat about Week 2 College Football

Texas A&M vs Clemson highlight a great weekend of action.

NCAA Football: Georgia Tech at Clemson Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

With the clunker that the NFL put on NBC last night, it will be sweet relief to turn on your screen du jour and watch some real football tonight. College Football is back, baby! And Week 2 is here.

There are many, many storylines to watch as we dig into the second week of our favorite sport.

  • The Heisman watch is officially on and it looks like Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts has crashed what was a two-man party between Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa. Both Tua and Hurts get easy matchups, but Lawrence will get the spotlight as Clemson takes on a Texas A&M team that many pundits believe is in a position to pull of a shocking upset. We shall see.
  • The Mountain West had itself a banner Week 1 highlighted by Boise State’s shocking come from behind win over the Florida State Taggerts. In all, four MWC teams beat Power 5 teams with two others - Fresno State (vs USC) and Utah State (vs Wake Forest) - that could have easily gone the other way. Week 1 jitters? Or a sign that the best of the Group of Five conferences is ready to wreak havoc? UCLA, Oregon State, Minnesota and #16 Oregon better be ready.
  • It’s all about the great state of Texas in Week 2.

I already mentioned the big Texas A&M / Clemson game. That might only be the second best game involving a Texas institution. #9 Texas hosts #6 LSU in a matchup that might expose one of these two teams as a Top Ten pretender. The ‘Horns boast a Heisman candidate QB in Sam Ehrlinger but are struggling finding a rushing attack. The Tigers are still reveling in the glory of their newfound offensive prowess. This is a can’t miss game if you are interested in seeing how the College Football Playoff chess pieces get laid out on the board.

  • The PAC 12 will garner some eyeballs this weekend as two in-conference games will be played. Everyone on this site knows all about Cal tripping to Washington. But the national conversation will be focused on Stanford vs USC. Both teams lost their quarterbacks to injury in Week 1 with USC’s JT Daniels getting knocked out for the season. The Kedon Slovis era is officially underway for the Trojans while Davis Mills gets the nod for the Cardinal. Stanford also has to contend with the absence of beast LT Walker Little who is also going to be missing significant time due to a leg injury.

Upset Alert

Want to see some upsets this week? These are notoriously hard to pick this early in the season because there is so much we don’t know about most of the teams out there. But here are a few games I’d keep my eyes on:

Army at Michigan (-22)

Do not sleep on Army! The Black Knights haven’t lost a game in almost a year. The Wolverines had their hands full breaking in a new offense against Middle Tennessee State last year. A 22 point spread vs Army seems very generous

Nevada at Oregon (-24.5)

A very beat up Oregon team coming off a huge let-down game is getting 24.5 points against a known giant killing MW team that just last week easily handled a Big Ten team? Keep an eye on this one. Mario “Don’t I Have Any More Timeouts” Cristobal himself can squander that kind of spread.

Syracuse at Maryland (-2)

Technically, a Maryland win would not be an upset. But the Terrapins have some new offensive firepower to show off against a ranked (#21) Syracuse team at home. I’ll take the Terps straight up in this one.
