Recruiting Roundup

The Huskies have had a gigantic week on the recruiting front landing commitments from 4 star offensive lineman, and a national top 100 prospect, Myles Murao from Mater Dei HS, CA and also 3 star tight end Mason West from La Habra HS, CA. Murao committed to UW after his official visit a few weeks ago, and West waited a few days after he got his UW offer. UW now has 11 commitments in the 2020 class and they are really picking up steam for the class. It still is sounding like they will take 20-22 players in the class and with spots starting to fill up you will probably see some guys jump aboard to secure their spots. 247sports has the class rated as the 29th best class in the nation however, all but 2 of the schools ranked ahead of them have a higher amount of commitments than the Huskies do (Tennessee and Stanford are the 2 schools who have the same amount of commitments).

I would expect that the class ends up somewhere between 10-15 in the nation when signing day rolls around. With USC struggling on the field UW has really capitalized and so far the Huskies have already went into California and landed 2 of the top 11 prospects. UW is also in the mix for 4 star wideouts Gary Bryant from Centennial HS, CA and Johnny Wilson from Calabasas HS, CA who are also top 10 prospects in the state of California.

The next couple of weeks could be see some more commitments coming the Huskies way. The coaches are going to take a few weeks of vacation prior to fall practice, and at the end of July the Huskies will be hosting 1 more official visit weekend. There are some top prospects that sound like they will make their way onto campus including 4 star wideout Rome Odunze from Bishop Gorman HS, NV and possibly Xavier Carlton from Juan Diego Catholic HS, UT.

As far as who might commit next I have been hearing 4 star offensive lineman Geiran Hatchett from Ferndale HS, WA is close to committing and I expect to see some movement on the defensive back front with the likes of 4 star cornerback Jacobe Covington from Saguaro HS, AZ and 3 star defensive back Makell Esteen from Lawndale HS, CA leaning towards the Huskies right now. By the time fall practices start in less than a month the Huskies will probably have around 15-16 commitments (right where Coach Pete wants the class to be) and then focus on a few guys who will be visiting during the season including 4 star linebacker Jordan Banks from Narbonne HS, CA and 4 star wide receiver Gary Bryant (both are slated to visit officially it sounds like for the USC game.

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
