The Huskies have been on a roll, recruiting wise recently, and I was able to catch up and talk to current Husky commit Sawyer Racanelli. Racanelli, a 3 star wide receiver from Hockinson HS, WA committed to UW back in May. Here is what he had to say about the Huskies and his recruitment:

Why did you end up committing to UW?

UW has always been my dream school. It was close to family and it is one of the best programs in the country.

How does it feel to have your commitment out of the way and behind you?

I’m glad it is out of the way. I feel like the pressure has been taken off my shoulders.

If not UW which schools were you looking most at?

I was looking at UCLA, Washington State, Michigan, and Oregon State.

What is Coach Adams telling you about what they expect of you at the wideout position?

They expect me to be a physical wide receiver for them.

Have you been recruiting anyone to UW, if so who are you after?

I’ve been recruiting the kids who have been getting offers.

Do you and the current commits talk?

Yes we have a group chat that we talk in.

What are your plans for your official, and when you will enroll?

I will take my official after the season. I will enroll after I graduate.

How would you describe yourself as a football player?

I’m a big physical wide receiver who will make plays and stretch the field but I can also play the slot. I have good hands, and I am an all around football player.

Racanelli is one of the better football players in the state, and he will contribute fairly soon once he arrives on Montlake (when I watch his tape you can see that his football IQ is pretty high and he already has good enough size for the position). Here is a look at some of his film and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
