#Woof: Huskies Land Local 4-Star Running Back

The Huskies got some really good news today when 4-star running back Sam Adams II from nearby Eastside Catholic HS committed to UW. The 6’2, 200 pound Adams is rated by 247sports as the 105th best player in the nation and 11th best running back. He is the son of former Texas A&M and Seahawk DT Sam Adams. With offers from over 40 schools the Huskies beat out the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, LSU, and Auburn. The Huskies have recruiting Adams for a long time and wanted to add his skill set to the running back room.

Adams is the 2nd RB in the 2020 class and the 9th overall. Washington is currently not slated to lose any of their running backs to graduation but it’s not out of the question that junior Salvon Ahmed could leap to the NFL if he has a breakout year given the short shelf life of players at that position. The Huskies also have juniors Sean McGrew and Kamari Pleasant on the roster as well as redshirt freshman Richard Newton and incoming freshman Cameron Davis. There have been thoughts at times that the staff would take 2 RBs in each of the past two classes but instead took only one in each.

Adams’ running style is the perfect compliment to the Huskies’ other running back commit Jay’veon Sunday. When you watch his film you can tell that Adams has great speed and can score from anywhere on the field, but he is also a good pass catcher which will be very valuable to the offense. Adams is fairly tall for a running back and he does run somewhat upright, but I am sure that is something he can work on to protect himself from taking too many shots to his lower body. Last year Adams ran for nearly 1,000 yards and 17 touchdowns while also adding another 300 yards receiving. Adams is a big-time pickup for the Huskies. Here are some of his highlights:
