BBK Staying in Seattle! Drafted by Seahawks in 5th Round

He was selected 142nd overall

NCAA Football: Colorado at Washington Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

Husky after Husky has been drafted by Seahawk divisional opponents over the course of this NFL Draft. Well the Hawks finally had enough of seeing the local talent going elsewhere and nabbed Ben Burr-Kirven with the 4th pick in the 5th round, 142nd overall. BBK becomes the most highly drafted Washington linebacker since Shaq Thompson and Hau’oli Kikaha went in the first 2 rounds of the 2015 draft.

Burr-Kirven led the nation in 2018 in total tackles after the rest of the Husky depth chart was decimated from graduation and injuries. BBK was the one constant for the Huskies at the linebacker position and far exceeded most fans’ expectations for him. He may be relatively undersized but he’s a pure football player and just flat out knows how to find the ball carrier and bring him down. He was named a 1st team AP All-American this season.

BBK is listed as an OLB in the official Seahawks release above which makes sense since the Hawks already have Bobby Wagner who is the best ILB in the league and one of the best ever. There is room on the Husky depth chart with K.J Wright coming back but with injury concerns. At the very least you can expect that BBK will be an absolute force on special teams in his rookie season.

Congrats to BBK and every local Seahawk/Husky fan is rejoicing over the prospect of getting to see you play in Seattle for the foreseeable future!
