Recruiting Roundup: A Guess At Who Is UW’s Next Football Commitment

Recruiting Roundup

NCAA Football: Fiesta Bowl-Penn State vs Washington Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

As a guy who writes about recruiting I get a lot of questions about recruiting and one of the questions I get the most is who is the next commitment for UW. Without any insider knowledge here is my best guess right now as to who the next commitment might be for UW:

4 star offensive guard Geirean Hatchett from Ferndale HS, WA has offers from around the country including Oklahoma, USC, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas and a bunch of other schools. Listed at 6’5” and around 275 pounds, Hatchett has the frame to put on an additional 20-30 pounds easily. Playing in a run heavy offense Hatchett is a very good run blocker (and puller) which is why he projects as a guard, but he can has the quickness to be a great pass protector as well. This spring Hatchett has been down to UW a couple of times. He has visited several of his other top schools over the last year but he seems to really like the OKG Husky program and I would be shocked if Hatchett wasn’t a Husky by the beginning of July. Here is a look at some of his junior film:

3 star athlete Sawyer Racanelli out of Hockinson HS, WA recently got the offer he was waiting for from UW. Although he has offers from WSU, UCLA, Cal and Oregon State the 6’3” 200 pound wideout/linebacker has been a huge fan of Chris Petersen and his OKG program. Racanelli’s dad played for Coach Pete at Portland State so the family is very familiar with the culture at UW. Coach Junior Adams offered Racanelli to play wideout but some of the defensive coaches think he could be a great linebacker as well. In all honesty I don’t think Racanelli will wait too long until he commits to UW and after a couple of unofficial visits to some of the schools that offered him (namely UCLA, and Michigan) I see Racanelli committing to UW sometime before July. Here is a look at some of Sawyer’s junior year highlights:

As my wildcard pick I think that 4 star running back Sam Adams II from Eastside Catholic HS, WA could commit to UW in the near future. Adams has been high on UW’s running back board and I get the feeling he is their #1 target. With offers from across the country including Alabama, Ohio State, Texas A&M, LSU, and several other schools, Adams basically has his choice of where he can go(he has 41 reported offers). Listed At 6’2” and around 200 pounds Adams can score anytime he touches the ball as evidenced by his 17 touchdowns rushing last year and nearly 10 yard a carry clip. It is uncommon for a player with his size to be such a home run threat. The Huskies are looking to take 2 running backs in the 2020 class and I do believe Adams will be one of those running backs. I could see Adams also taking a few official visits but I don’t get the sense he is a recruit who wants or needs to be dazzled by schools on his official visit. Here is a look at some of his junior highlights:

So in closing I could any of these guys being the next commit to UW but Hatchett and Racanelli will probably both commit sometime before July (I put Adams in there because I truly do think he likes UW and he is a possible early commit).

Now that my picks are in who do you guys think will be the next commit? As always follow me @asieverkropp.
