Recruiting Roundup: Huskies Extend Some 2020 offers

Recruiting Roundup

NCAA Football: Rose Bowl Game-Ohio State vs Washington Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Husky coaches have been active on the recruiting front the last few weeks and have extended a few offers and hosted some players. Here is a look at some of those offers and players:

3 star wideout/outside linebacker Sawyer Racanelli from Hockinson HS, WA was offered while visiting on an unofficial visit. Listed at 6’3” and around 200 pounds Racanelli plays both linebacker and wide receiver for his team but the Huskies would love to add him to their roster and then put him at his best position. With offers from WSU, UCLA, Michigan, Cal and Oregon State Racanelli has lots of options to choose from but the Huskies are one of his favorites and his dad played for Coach Pete when Coach Pete was coaching at Portland State University. I would expect Sawyer to take a couple of unofficial visits and probably add his name to the Husky commit list this summer. Here are some of his highlights from last year:

4 star wideout LV Bunkley-Shelton from Junipero Serra HS, CA got some good news when Husky wide receiver coach Junior Adams called and extended an offer to him. Bunkley-Shelton, who is listed at around 6’0 and 180 pounds is a typical a lot receiver who has good speed and quickness. With offers from USC, Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, and Oklahoma the Huskies will have their work cut out to try and land his services but Bunkley-Shelton will visit UW at some point this summer/fall. The Huskies are looking to add 1 slot receiver in the 2020 class. I had a chance to talk with Bunkley-Shelton and I will post our conversation in the next couple of days.

4 star defensive lineman Princely Umanmielen from Manor HS, TX was offered by UW this last week. Listed at 6’4” and around 255 pounds Umanmielen has offers from around the country including LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Oregon, and now UW. The Huskies are recruiting Umanmielen to play a similar position (inside as a pass rusher and run stopper) as current Husky Levi Onwuzurike who is also from Texas. UW will try and get Umanmielen on campus for an official visit and if that happens they will have a good chance to wow him and potentially land his commitment (the in state schools look the best for his services currently). Here is a look at his highlights:

The Huskies also hosted the Eastside Catholic HS football team over the weekend and several of their top players (and Husky targets) were on campus to check out practice on Saturday. 2021 5 star defensive lineman JT Tuimoloau, and 4 star 2020 running back Sam Adams were on campus. Also on campus were 2021 4 star tight end Julien Simon from Lincoln HS, WA, and 4 star safety Will Latu from Bethel HS, WA (both players don’t have a Husky offer yet).

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
