Recruiting Roundup: Looking Forward To The 2021 Class

A Look Forward At The 2021 Class

NCAA Football: Las Vegas Bowl-Boise State vs Washington Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Huskies wrapped up most of their 2020 class last week, signing 22 players (plus a 2017 signee joining the program again). The class was a top 15 class nationally, and first in the pac 12z Husky coaches will now mainly turn their attention to the 2021 class, and hope to build on the momentum of the 2020 class. Fortunately for UW, there are some great players on the west coast, and more specifically the state of Washington. Here is a look at some of the top local prospects in the 2021 class that the Huskies are after:

5 star defensive tackle JT Tuimoloau from Eastside Catholic HS, WA, who is rated by 247sports as the #1 player in the nation, is one of the Huskies top priorities for the 2021 class. Listed at around 6’4” and 280 pounds Tuimoloau currently holds offers from basically a whose who of major college programs. Right now the Huskies look like they are one of the schools at the top of his list but he is open to leaving the state. Programs like Clemson, Alabama, and Ohio State will make it difficult for the Huskies to keep him home.

5 star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka from Steilacoom HS, WA is a big time athlete from the state that is rated by 247sports as the 8th best player in the class. The Huskies are recruiting Egbuka as a wide receiver, and Egbuka is mainly looking at Ohio State, Stanford, and Clemson. Listed at 6’1” and around 190 pounds Egbuka is a difference maker at the receiver position and the Huskies are hoping they can keep him home. The Huskies are probably tied with Ohio State and Clemson right now for his commitment.

5 star quarterback Sam Huard from Kennedy Catholic HS, WA is already committed to UW for the 2021 class. Listed at around 6’2” and 175 pounds Huard has taken the lead as the 2021 class recruiter and his commitment will definitely help with recruiting other players in his class. 247sports has him rated as the #1 quarterback in the 2021 class, and the Huskies were able to land his commitment over offers from Tennessee, Florida, and WSU (but he basically shut down his recruiting before any other offers came in).

4 star athlete Julien Simon from Lincoln HS, WA is another player the Huskies are after. Listed at 6’2” and around 220 pounds Simon is being recruited by UW as a linebacker. Simon currently holds offers from Oregon, Penn State, Stanford, UCLA and UW. The Huskies would love to add Simon to their roster and he would be a welcome addition at linebacker. The Huskies are thought to be one of his leaders currently.

On the offensive line the Huskies have already offered 4 star offensive lineman Owen Prentice from O’Dea HS, WA. Prentice who is listed at 6’3” and around 280 pounds currently holds offers from Stanford, USC, and UW. 247sports has Prentice rated as the 6th best guard in the country and the Huskies are battling Stanford for Prentice’s commitment.

The Huskies are also after and have offered 3 star wideout Junior Alexander from Kennedy Catholic HS, WA. Alexander who holds offers from Utah, Cal, WSU, and UW is a bigger wideout who is listed at 6’2” and around 170 pounds. The Huskies have been bringing in bigger wideouts the last several years, and Alexander is a bigger wideout. The Huskies also would love to bring in some talented wideouts to compliment Huard. The Huskies are looking good for Alexander right now.

That is all for now and next week I will continue looking at other 2021 prospects the Huskies are after. As always follow me @asieverkropp.
