Recruiting Roundup: Huskies Host A Big Group Of Official Visitors Prior To Signing Day

Huskies Host A Huge Group Of Visitors

NCAA Football: Washington State at Washington Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

Leading up to the first signing period, which happens on the 18th, the Huskies are hosting a huge list of official visitors in town (all of them but 1 are already committed). Head Coach Jimmy Lake is already working the recruiting trail hard and he wanted to make sure he is able to sign all of the commitments on Wednesday. The commitments were also able to visit the campus and hang out with each other. Here is a look at who was in town:

-5 star linebacker Sav’ell Smalls from Kennedy Catholic HS, WA (current commit)

-4 star wideout Jalen McMillan from San Joaquin HS, CA (current commit)

-4 star wideout Rome Odunze from Bishop Gorman HS, NV (current commit)

-4 star offensive Lineman Geirean Hatchett from Ferndale HS, WA (current commit)

-3 star offensive lineman Gaard Memmelaar from Middleton HS, ID (current commit)

-3 star offensive lineman Sam Peacock from Gig Harbor HS, WA (current commit)

-3 star tight end Mason West from La Habra HS, CA (current commit)

-3 star linebacker Carson Bruener from Redmond HS, WA (current commit)

-3 star wideout Sawyer Racanelli from Hockinson HS, WA (current commit)

-3 star punter Triston Brown from Mt San Antonio College HS, CA (current commit)

-2 star long snapper Jaden Green from Mesa HS, AZ (current commit)

-4 star tight end Jack Yary from Murrieta Valley HS, CA who recently de-committed from USC and is visiting UW.

Obviously 4 star defensive lineman Xavier Carlton from Juan Diego HS, UT didn’t make it to To Montlake (it sounds like he cancelled his visit and is set to sign with Utah), but the Huskies still had a big group of visitors and they are hoping they can land Yary. With 22 commits the Huskies don’t have much room in the class, but they are trying to get another tight end in their class and Yary would be a great addition to their class. Listed at 6’6” and around 250 pounds Yary is rated as the 9th best tight end in the 2020 class. If the Huskies could land Yary they would be able to pair him with current 4 star Husky commit Mark Redman, who is also 6’6” and 250 pounds, and really put pressure on opposing defenses in the pass game. If Yary decides to sign on Wednesday the Huskies have a great shot to land him, but if he decides to wait they may have a harder time in trying to wrap him up.

All of the current commits are expected to sign with UW on Wednesday, and the current class is ranked as the 14th best class (composite ranked) in the country and 1st class in the pac 12. They are also bringing in 3 star defensive lineman Jordan Lolohea from East HS, UT who signed with UW in 2017 but went on a mission. He will enroll in January at UW. If UW can sign all of the committed players they will have room for a couple of more players but they really want to add another tight end and they will still try to bring in another defensive lineman (If it’s the right guy).

That is all for now and we will have lots of coverage on signing day, which as I mentioned is Wednesday. As always follow me @asieverkropp.
