How to Watch, Stream, Chat About, and Pick Upsets in Week 7 of College Football

Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual - Washington v Ohio State Photo by Harry How/Getty Images

It’s week 7. Time to wash the stink out of our collective mouths and hit the reset button on this UW season. But before we can do that, just about everybody else has to play first. Here is what I’ll be watching.

UW Rooting Guide

Well, since UW is way out of the Top 25, not to mention the Playoff Race, all that matters is trying to find a way to win the North. Therefore, root for whichever team has the best mascot, uniform combination or cheerleaders for all I care. It’s all the same.

Upset Alert

Florida State at #2 Clemson (-25.5)

Call this one a hunch. There is really no good reason to expect Clemson to do anything other than wallop FSU and Willie Taggert. Still, there are these little signals floating in the ether that indicate Clemson may not actually be quite as elite as the market assumes and that FSU may not actually be quite as bad. No way the Taggerts win, but I like FSU to cover.

Michigan State at #10 Wisconsin (-10)

This is about the time of year that the Badgers typically fool everyone with their methodical and physical domination of their early schedule only to crumble when faced with a just-as-physical opponent. A down and out Michigan State team that really shouldn’t be carrying the record they currently carry certainly qualifies as a physical equal. I sense an upset coming, especially if the Spartans can find a way to work around that big Badger O-line and contain Jonathan Taylor. Run defense is kind of their thing and I can see it showing up today.

USC at #9 Notre Dame (-11.5)

I get that the Trojans are just about all over the place and that their head coach is essentially keeping the seat warm for Urban Meyer. But I also sense that Brian Kelly has no interest in trying to defend the Trojan passing attack, now featuring Kedon Slovis, in the same manner that Chris Petersen and the Huskies have blue-printed. I have a sneaky feeling about this one. It might go to the wire.

#7 Florida at #5 LSU (-13)

If there is a 13 point spread between the #5 and the #7 teams in the nation in the middle of the season, someone is ranked wrong. Alas, this is the SEC.

I do have to admit, though, that Florida has impressed me more and more as the season has gone on. I think they’ve actually played better football with their backup in there and I think the defenese has the kind of ahtleticsm to hang against Joe Burrow and this new LSU juggernaut offense. I think Florida covers the spread and could actually pull off the upset.

That’s what I got for you this morning. Below is your full TV and Streaming schedule. This is your open thread.
