Admit it, you were freaking out a little; maybe a lot.
The game last Saturday got off to a nightmarish start for the Huskies. Three-and-out. Lousy punt. Worse coverage. Short field for Auburn. TD.
But the Huskies dug in. Stuffed a two-point conversion, made some first downs, and kept the Tigers out of the end zone while the offense figured some things out. Auburn controlled the beginning and the end of the game, UW controlled the middle. The end is a much better part of the game to control, and that was the difference.
I’m not sure how I really feel about what I saw, but I have to say that Jake Browning looked comfortable, showed a lot of confidence in his receivers, and the offensive line held up better than I expected against what could be a top defensive front. On the other hand, some miscues in blocking and tackling, a curious speed-option play that ended in disaster, and no turnovers generated was not something I was expecting to see.
So, what is your takeaway after week one?
What best describes the way you feel about the Huskies’ season opening loss to Auburn?

I’m happy. I wanted a competitive game and that is what we got.
Mixed bag. We saw some great things, but too many mistakes.
I’m upset with that performance. UW lost a game they could have won. Period
