The Huskies are in the market for a few defensive tackles in the 2019 class. One of their primary targets is 4 star Jacob Bandes out of Antioch HS, CA who recently participated in the Opening. He won the award for top defensive lineman at the camp, which featured some of the best 2019 prospects around the country. I had a chance to ask him some questions about recruiting and UW and here is what he said:
Hey Jacob - Thanks for taking some time talking with me and UW Dawg Pound.
How was the open and how was the experience playing against the best recruits in the nation?
The Opening was really cool. I loved everything from the airport to the hotel to the ride back to the hotel. Playing against the best recruits really felt like an easy battle to be honest, because I trained for it before I went.
How does UW fit into your recently released top 8 and are you planning to visit officially?
Washington is really a school that is in my top schools that I am leaning towards. As far as a visit I have a date planned for an official with UW on December 15 .
How often are you talking with UW and which coaches at UW are you talking with?
I talk with the coaches almost every week and I talk to Coach Malloe & Coach Pete.
Are you planning on signing in December now or waiting until February?
I will probably sign in December.
247 sports rate him as the 28th best player in the 2019 class and the 3rd best defensive tackle. His top consists of Cal, Colorado, Illinois, Clemson, Oregon, Ole Miss, UW, and Florida. It sounds like UW is in the thick of this race and getting his last visit is a big deal.
Here is a link to some of his Opening highlights.
That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
