Congratulations Husky fans. We have waited 244 days since the 2017 Husky season ended with a disappointing loss to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl. And now we are a little over 24 hours away from another momentous game held in a dome in the southern half of the U.S. We’re 99.6% of the way there.
At this point we have all of the information we need to give our predictions for the 2018 season. This is your chance to forecast how the season will play out.
Week 1- Saturday, September 1st. Washington vs. Auburn (Atlanta)
The Huskies are a slight underdog in Vegas although that’s probably because the game is significantly closer to Auburn than it is to Seattle. The Huskies will enter the game more highly ranked but you won’t find many who expect it to be a blowout in either direction. Auburn plays one of the toughest schedules in the country with games against UW, Georgia, and Alabama while Washington needs this game to keep up a legitimate hope of a return to the College Football Playoff.

Week 3- Saturday, September 15th. Washington @ Utah.
The season opener against Auburn is getting the most attention but plenty of fans have the Pac-12 opener circled on their calendars as well. The Huskies take on one of the better teams in the South and a squad that almost unseated Washington on the road a season ago. Can the Utes finally knock off the Dawgs?

Week 4- Saturday, September 22nd. Arizona State vs. Washington.
The Huskies would love some revenge in this one although surely Coach Pete will underplay that angle to the media. The Washington season fell apart with a terrible loss in the desert against ASU in 2017 which saw Jordan Miller and Trey Adams lost for the season to add injury to insult for once. UW will certainly be a heavy favorite in this one and hope to see a big reversal from last year.

Week 5- Saturday, September 29th. BYU vs. Washington.
Normally you see the Dawgs start the season with all three of their non-conference games but this year the non-con doesn’t conclude until almost October. BYU struggled mightily last season but are hoping to rebound in 2018. The last meeting between the two schools was in the 2013 Fight Hunger Bowl when Marques Tuiasosopo coached UW to a 31-16 victory after Sark’s departure and before Chris Petersen took over.

Week 6- Saturday, October 6th. Washington @ UCLA.
It’s been a while since the Huskies have seen Chip Kelly roaming the opposite sideline and UW fans have generally wanted to forget each and every time it happened. But the Chipster era in Westwood will be well underway by this time as UCLA tries to replace Josh Rosen with...Wilton Speight?

Week 7- Saturday, October 13th. Washington @ Oregon.
This rivalry game will likely get plenty of hype. Oregon’s pillow soft early schedule means they’ll likely enter the contest with no more than 1 loss. They also get the advantage of coming off a bye while UW makes back to back road trips. Thank you Pac-12 scheduling!

Week 8- Saturday, October 20th. Colorado vs. Washington.
The Buffs haven’t played Washington in the regular season the past 2 seasons and are probably glad considering UW pounded them into the ground in the Pac-12 title game in 2016. All indications are that this version of Colorado is worse than that one but we’ll see if they can turn things around in 2018.

Week 9- Saturday, October 27th. Washington @ California.
The Dawgs have won 8 of 9 against the Golden Bears with the sole loss coming in Seattle by 6 points in 2015. But Washington has won the last 2 by 39 and 31 points. Justin Wilcox is looking to return Cal to respectability. Can he pull off an upset against his former team?

Week 10- Saturday, November 3rd. Stanford vs. Washington.
The ASU loss kicked Washington’s season off the rails but the Stanford loss officially crushed their dreams. The game is in Seattle this year but there’s a good chance that once again the winner of the Pac-12 North is decided by this contest. Bryce Love vs. Myles Gaskin. Who you got?

Week 11- BYE
I don’t even need to put up a poll. Washington is going to grind the BYE into dust.
Week 12- Saturday, November 17th. Oregon State vs. Washington.
A very loud portion of the fanbase has called for Jonathan Smith’s head for years. And while he wasn’t fired, he did move on this off season to become the head coach of the Oregon State Beavers. I think most Husky fans would love for OSU to become the dominant power in the state of Oregon which means their feelings towards old Johnny should be more positive now. Best of luck Mr. Smith but not in this one.

The Luke Falk era is over in Pullman. It was a very pleasant one for the Huskies as UW won each contest by at least 18 points. Can Washington State ever do better than that running Mike Leach’s offense?
