How to Watch: NIT (and NCAA) Selection Show

Will the Huskies end up in postseason play?

Today is the day when dreams are either fulfilled or shattered. UW fans will likely be in neither camp with the hope of an NCAA berth dead and the NIT as a nice consolation prize. Here’s the information you need to plan out your day.

NCAA Selection Show

Date: Sunday 3/11/18

Time: 3:00 pm Pacific

TV: TBS (not CBS)

Streaming: ncaa.com/march-madness-live

Note that the selection show is not going to be on CBS like normal. It’s also not going to be in the usual format. This year they’re going to stretch things out into an unnecessary extravaganza. The first hour will be the announcement of the teams but without seeding. So by 4p you’ll know just know who is in and who got snubbed. Then in the second hour they’ll show where everyone is seeded.

NIT Selection Show

Date: Sunday 3/11/18

Time: 5:30 pm Pacific

TV: ESPNU

Streaming: Espn.com/watch

Washington will likely make the field but they’re not that far away from the bubble. The biggest mystery will be whether UW can get one more home game by getting up to a #4 seed.

A reminder of the NIT format. It is 32 teams rather than 64 in 4 brackets of 8. Teams that won their regular season conference title but didn’t make the NCAA tournament get an automatic bid to the NIT. There are still a few more spots still to be decided as I type this but in a normal year there are about 20 at large spots available. The highest seeded team gets a home game until the “Final 4” which is held at Madison Square Garden.
