This weekend a few Husky commits and targets will be participating in both the Army All-American Bowl and the Under Armour All-American Game. Both games are all-star games that allow the best players from across the nation to practice and play against each other. It also allows them one last chance to improve their recruiting rankings. Here is a look at some of the future Huskies that are participating:
4* defensive tackle Jacob Bandes from Pittsburg HS, CA will join fellow 4* defensive tackle Faatui Tuitele from St. Louis HS, HI in the trenches for the Army All-American game. Both players are two of the top defensive linemen in the West, who will get a chance to improve their rankings with a good week.
4* cornerback Trent McDuffie from St. John Bosco HS, CA will be showing off his skills at the game. McDuffie has seen his ranking skyrocket the last few months and a solid week would help him jump even more.
There are also several key targets that will be down in San Antonio including 4* safety Asa Turner from Carlsbad HS, CA who was committed to UW for several months, only to postpone his decision until February between Notre Dame and UW.
4* outside linebacker Henry To’oto’o from De La Salle HS, CA will be showing off his speed and ability as a linebacker. To’oto’o has a few January visits lined up to Tennessee and Alabama before he makes his decision. He has already visited UW back in September and the Husky coaches would love to add him to their class.
5* wideout Kyle Ford from Orange Lutheran HS, CA won’t be on the field this week due to a torn ACL, but he will be making his commitment this weekend. It sounds like Ford will be deciding between USC, UW, and Oregon with each school feeling like they have a good shot at him. Honestly, I am not sure which school leads currently but Ford is close with several Husky players and used to play with McDuffie. His decision will be one to watch.
The Army All-American game is Saturday, January 5th, at 11 AM PST on NBC.
The other big-time all-star game this weekend is the Under Armour game. 4* linebacker Joshua Calvert from Oaks Christian HS, CA will be down in Orlando this weekend to participate. Calvert will get the chance to focus on playing solely the linebacker position after having played QB as well for his high school team.
The Under Armour game will be on ESPN2 January 3rd at 3 PM PST.
We will try to get some SBNation reports from the games and practice and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
