Woof! Huskies get 5 star QB Commitment

Kennedy Catholic’s Sam Huard, son of Damon and nephew of Brock, has verbally committed to Washington

NCAA Football: Arizona State at Washington Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

The Huskies and Chris Petersen got tremendous news on the verge of their gigantic Apple Cup matchup with Washington State as they received a commitment from Class of 2021 QB Sam Huard. Sam is the son of former Husky QB Damon Huard and the nephew of former Husky QB Brock Huard. He is rated as a 5 star and the top pocket passer in the 2021 Class by the 247 Sports composite rankings.

This move was not unexpected after Washington officially offered Huard a few weeks ago but it’s nice to have it “official”. Obviously there is a ton of time remaining before Huard puts pen to paper but given the family ties and UW clearly being Sam’s dream school it would take a stunning turn of events for him to change his mind and end up somewhere else.

This just continues Washington’s ridiculous run of talent acquisition at the QB position. The Huskies lose senior Jake Browning but as of right now will have Jake Haener, former 5 star Jacob Eason, and a trio of 4 stars in Jacob Sirmon, Colson Yankoff, and Dylan Morris for next year.

Huard in his sophomore season at Kennedy Catholic High School passed for 4,141 yards with 42 TDs against 10 INT with a 62.8% completion percentage and 10.43 YPA. He improved in every category from his true freshman season.

Washington has a chance at a special recruiting class in 2021 with Huard in the fold. He is the highest ranked player currently committed in that class at #13 overall. The #1 player in the country, DL J.T Tuimoloau, attends Eastside Catholic and while UW will have to fight off every program in the country for him it’s great to have that kind of talent in their backyard. Other local players in the top 50 for 2021 include ATH Emeka Egbuka from Steilacoom HS at #38, ATH Julien Simon from Lincoln HS at #44, and S Will Latu from Bethel HS at #45.

Here are his sophomore highlights.
