Recruiting Roundup: Huskies Heading Down The Home Stretch

Recruiting Roundup

NCAA Football: Stanford at Washington Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

Heading into the home stretch of the first signing day (December 20th) the Huskies currently have 18 commits and currently have a top 20 class in the nation (according to 247 sports). The Huskies have room for another 4-5 players in the class and with several big visit weekends coming up it looks like the Huskies could end up with a full class after the early signing period. Here is a look at who is still on the board and could fill one of those spots:

4 star defensive tackle Faatui Tuitele out of St Louis High School is scheduled to visit UW on the 15th of December. It is his only scheduled official visit which bodes well for the Huskies. Tuitele is the highest ranked recruit in Hawaii and has offers from the likes of Alabama, USC, Texas, Clemson, and UW. Listed at 6’4” and around 300 pounds Tuitele has the size already to play defensive tackle but he will need to work on his technique which is typical for younger defensive lineman. Here are some of his highlights:

4 star defensive end/tackle Stephon Wright out of Cathedral HS, CA is scheduled to visit UW next weekend when they host the Beavers. Wright has narrowed his choice of suitors to ASU, UW, and Oregon with UW having the advantage of the Huskies having the last official visit. Most experts are picking ASU currently but the Huskies still have their official to wow him. Listed at 6’3” and around 260 pounds Wright has size similar to current Husky Jaylen Johnson and probably projects to be a similar type player. Here are some of his highlights:

4 star inside linebacker Daniel Heimuli out of Menlo Atherton HS, CA is scheduled to visit UW the same weekend as Tuitele, the 15th of December. Listed at 6’2” and around 225 pounds Heimuli has the perfect frame for a mike backer position. Heimuli is also scheduled to visit Oregon, Utah, and UW with most experts predicting UW to land Heimuli. If UW were to land Heimuli they would probably be done at linebacker for their class (they already have 3 linebacker commits in the class). Here are some of Heimuli’s highlights from one of his games this year:

4 star defensive end Laiatu Latu from Jesuit HS, CA he is scheduled to visit UW on the 15th of December and will join Heimuli and Tuitele on campus. Listed at 6’5” and around 240 pounds he has the perfect frame for a Buck prospect however the Huskies are facing competition from USC, Oregon, Cal, and UCLA. The Huskies are looking to bring in more pass rush specialists this class and Latu fits the bill. Here are some of his highlights from a game this season:

5 star wideout Kyle Ford out of Orange Lutheran HS, CA has already visited UW back in September. He is currently recovering from a torn ACL and has also visited Oregon, and Colorado previously. He still is looking at USC as well, but the Huskies have a punchers chance at landing Ford. At 6’2” and around 220 pounds Ford would be a big time pickup if the Huskies could land him.

4 star cornerback Trent McDuffie out of St. John Bosco HS, CA visited UW last month while the Huskies played Colorado. McDuffie has had a huge senior season, and listed at around 5’11” and around 185 pounds he could be a terror at nickel back for the Huskies but they are facing stiff competition with Stanford. McDuffie has been waiting on his admittance to Stanford and it has been assumed by experts that if he gets into Stanford he will commit to them but if it takes too long or he doesn’t get in UW will likely land him. Here are some of his highlights:

There are a few other guys that UW is still recruiting hard including 5 star wideout Bru McCoy out of Mater Dei HS, CA who is down to USC, UW, and Texas with most experts predicting he is a lock for USC. The Huskies are also after 5 star linebacker Henry To’oto’o from DeLa Salle HS, CA however most experts have him penciled in to Alabama. There are other guys that will probably pop up on the radar here in the next few weeks but it looks like he majority of the class will sign on the 20th.

That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
