Elijah Hardy will be on campus this weekend

On Official Visit

Elijah Hardy

PG; Bishop O’Dowd High School, CA; 6’1”, 165

Scout: 4 stars; 247 Sports: 3 stars; ESPN: 4 stars is repoting that Elijah Hardy will be taking an official visit to UW this upcoming weekend. Hardy’s recruitment has been very quiet over the past couple of months as the most recent interview he had done before this was back in July. At that time, Hardy had yet to visit Washington but said he was talking more frequently with the UW coaching staff than with any other. Since then, he took an unofficial visit while in Seattle for the Jamal Crawford camp in August. The Oakland, California native holds offers from USC, Cal, and Saint Mary’s. The Huskies offered shortly after Coach Hopkins got the job and have been in the mix ever since.

The article on Dawgman mentions that UW’s pursuit of Hardy picked up over the last month which isn’t surprising as that is about the time that Marcus Zegarowski started heavily leaning towards Creighton. I wouldn’t say that Hardy was viewed as a tier below but it seemed pretty clear that Zegarowski was 1a while Hardy and Xavier Johnson were 1b and 1c. Johnson was on campus on an official visit last week but seems like he may be harder to get as UW is his only west coast school under consideration and is in competition with 6 other programs.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Hardy ended up committing this weekend but it isn’t time to panic if he doesn’t. The Huskies seem like they’re in good shape with him at this point and it’s possible he may want to take his time with the process. The visit is a welcome bit of good news for a program that has suffered some recent recruiting losses.

EDIT: Previous versions of this article contained quotes from the Dawgman story. Visit there and support their great work to see them.

Removed from The List

Marcus Zegarowski

PG; Tilton High School, NH; 6’1”, 165

Scout: 3 stars; 247 Sports: 3 stars; ESPN: 4 stars, #96 Overall

Zegarowski committed to Creighton earlier this week in what was a disappointing but expected move. For the last several months he appeared to be UW’s primary target for a Class of 2018 Point Guard but seemed set on Creighton for the last month after trimming down his list. UW got into the fray because Coach Hop recruited Zegarowski’s older brother (NBA player Michael Carter-Williams) to Syracuse and had a good relationship with the family.

George Conditt

C; Corliss High School, IL; 6’10”, 200

Scout: 3 stars; 247 Sports: 3 stars

Final 3: Illinois, Iowa State, New Mexico

Conditt trimmed his list down to 3 schools and UW didn’t make the cut. UW offered him within 2 days of both Illinois and Iowa State but for whatever reason they didn’t warrant a visit. Conditt has been viewed as a potential sleeper as he grew about 4 inches in the last year which allowed him to be perceived as a prospect at center. UW will continue to heavily pursue Bryan Penn-Johnson as well as Nate Roberts, who visited last weekend.

Hepa visited Texas this last weekend and is visiting Gonzaga on this one. It really sounds like this will come down to those two programs but the Huskies will certainly hope for an official visit from one of the most talented players coming out of the Pacific Northwest in 2018.
