Alabama v Florida State
Could Florida State possibly start the season 0-2?

Is it too early for a rooting guide? Probably. But when your team is ranked #6 in the nation but is saddled with a weak schedule, you are going to have to take advantage of every little break that your competition might afford you. With that in mind, here are some games for you to pay attention to with some thoughts on who you may wish to root for.

UW Fan Rooting Guide

Oregon State at #21 Washington State

Who to root for: Oregon State

We’ve already covered this one in our weekly predictions. While I think WSU ought to be able to handle this one, I’m not sure it is automatic. Oregon State has been plagued by two big things so far this season: turnovers and a lack of a pass rush. The former is fixable and the latter might ... might, I say ... be due for a regression to the mean. If that happens, it might be closer than you think.

Texas at #4 USC

Who to root for: USC

I have already gone on record as saying that this might be closer than you think.

Let’s hope not. Husky fans should be rooting for a built up USC program that we can target for a showdown in a possible P12 Championship matchup. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

#3 Clemson at #14 Louisville

Who to root for: Louisville

This one could work against us as it might put Louisville in a position to jump UW at some point, but the principle of knocking out the guys ahead of your team seem to apply. That Louisville could win this one is certainly a possibility. Keep in mind that it took some Deshaun Watson magic late in the fourth quarter to pull out a Clemson victory at home one season ago. Watson is gone and this game is in Louisville.

#23 Tennessee vs #24 Florida

Who to root for: Florida

Why? Just because I like seeing undefeated SEC teams get hung with losses, even if they are to one another and the media chalks it up to the SEC simply feasting on itself.

#17 Miami at #11 Florida State

Who to root for: Miami

A second loss on FSU’s ledger pretty much eliminates them from playoff contention. Having a team as eminently talented as FSU out of the running this early would basically be a gift to every other team who has CFB playoff aspirations.

There are other games of interest out there, but it is still just week 3 of the college football season. There is a long way to go and a lot of football left to play. Watch whatever games piques your fancy and join us here to talk about it.

This is your Week 3 open thread.
