UW snags Nebraska’s top-ranked player for 2018 class

PF Ed Chang commits to Huskies

NCAA Basketball: Syracuse at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

A day after losing out on Kevin Porter, Jr. to USC, the UW men’s basketball team received some good news with the commitment of the state of Nebraska’s top-ranked in-state player for the 2018 class, Ed Chang.

Chang is a two-time All-Nebraska selection for Papillion, Nebraska’s La Vista High School. Chang is a three-star prospect by Scout and a four-star prospect by both ESPN and 247Sports. He had offers from Creighton, Nebraska, St. John’s and North Dakota. UW came in late as they offered Chang on June 2nd. He visited Montlake on June 27th so the visit must have sealed the deal.

According to the Omaha World Herald, he averaged 17.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 1.2 steals per game last season. Chang is listed as a 6’7”, 175 pound power forward and should be able to help Coach Hopkins with the inside game when he comes onto campus next year.
