Former Husky and Phoenix Suns forward Marquese Chriss was the NBA’s rookie of the month for January. Also, Boston Celtics’ guard Isaiah Thomas continues with the best season of his career as he was chosen as player of the week for the Eastern Conference.
Both will be participating at NBA All-Star Weekend next week as Thomas will be an All-Star reserve for the East Squad while Chriss was chosen to participate in Friday night’s NBA Rising Stars game. Thomas will also be competing in the NBA Skills Competition on Saturday night.
The honor for Chriss came as somewhat of a surprise. However, the NBA lottery pick is steadily improving. This week he scored a career high 27 points for the Suns. While he is still a work in progress on the defensive end in the NBA, he is progressing on the offensive side.
As for Thomas, last week he helped the Celtics go 4-0 and averaged 37.8 points (shooting 49.4% from the field) and 6.8 assists. In a showdown against the Toronto Raptors and NBA All-Star Guard Kyle Lowry, IT was unstoppable scoring 44 points with 19 in the fourth as the Celtics came back to beat the Raptors, 109-104.
Also, today is Isaiah Thomas’ birthday. Happy Birthday IT!
