Four-star defensive back Brandon McKinney signed his official letter of intent to enroll at the University of Washington in time for the 2017-18 school year.

McKinney is a 6’2”, 190 lb. thumper of a safety prospect who committed to Washington and defensive backs coach Jimmy Lake last July. He hails from Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, Calif. Orange Lutheran has produced some significant college football talent, including former Boise State wide receiver Austin Pettis and current UCLA Bruin Keisean Lucier-South.

As a Husky, McKinney projects at either safety spot. He also possesses the kind of athletic versatility that might allow him to shift into a coverage role over the slot. His leadership on the field has been noted by his coach, Chuck Petersen, who noted late in the season that McKinney was his “quarterback of the defense.”

McKinney is currently rated by 247 sports as the No. 21 safety prospect in the nation.

Welcome to Washington, Brandon McKinney!
