The Huskies got their RB for the class of 2018 this morning in Palmdale, California back Richard Newton.
Richard Newton was recruited as a versatile player who could do a lot of things, such as signing on the dotted line for the Huskies (done). It looks like he will be playing running back for the Dawgs, though at 6-1 he is taller than anybody UW currently has running the ball.
Newton dealt with injury during his senior season but he has the ability to run away from a defense when he finds a crease. It is possible that he will need to play as a true freshman if he is ready, with Lavon Coleman set to graduate and Myles Gaskin showing NFL talent. It is possible we see a Salvon Ahmed and Newton backfield next season.
Newton was a consensus three-star prospect who had offers from several Pac-12 schools, including Cal and over the mountains at WSU.
