Happy signing day!

Whether you love or hate the idea of a signing day in December, you can’t deny the thrill that comes with the actual day itself. Today, we expect somewhere between 15 and 18 new Huskies to sign on the dotted line and commit themselves to the Purple and Gold.

It is going to be an exciting day of recruiting whiplash. We will endeavor to continue to post updates to this thread and to keep this spot open for you to discuss all of the action as it happens live. You can also expect our traditional “‘So-and-so’ is a Husky” pieces with the news of each commit as well as a series of breakdowns and analyses following today.

Fax machines on! Time to roll.

11:39am (CL)

Incredible.

18 of 18 UW commits took advantage of the early signing period and put their names on the dotted lines for Chris Petersen and his program. There were no defections and no surprises. Typical Petersen.

UW currently has the top rated Pac 12 recruiting class for 2018. There are still a few positions left to fill (DB, DL in particular). The staff can now give its full attention to those couple of remaining spots as they work towards what will now be a rather quiet February signing day.

Speaking of which, I am now projecting 86 scholarship players signed up for next season. This includes a scholarship for Ryan Bowman and an assumption that both Vita Vea and Ali Gaye are not on thr roster next season. There will have to be a few more defections from the current roster to squeeze in a few more recruits as well as to open scholarships for any walk-ons that might be deserving.

9:46 UPDATE (MV)

Kyler Gordon will officially be deciding between UW and Notre Dame at 7pm tomorrow Thursday 12/21 on King5. The last UW target to do this was Budda Baker and we know how that turned out. Reading between the tea leaves things certainly appear to be pointing towards UW. It seems unlikely he’d go on a local TV station to commit to ND over the local school. The fact that Dmitri Stanley ended up signing at Colorado seems to suggest that we felt confident about getting another DB. And target Julius Irvin won’t be signing now until February so there’s no way the staff felt more confident about him than Stanley. After all of that though, try not to get your hopes up. There’s still 36 hours for things to go against UW. And if he does decide to go to Notre Dame I better not see a single Husky fan tweet negatively at him. We are better than that. Either way, he’s a teenager doing what he feels is best for him, not for you.

9:13 UPDATE (MV)

Montana State announced as part of their recruiting coverage that Husky BUCK Bryce Sterk is transferring to play under former Husky coach Jeff Choate. Sterk was a part of the Class of 2015 and was viewed as a low 3-star recruit at the time. He redshirted his first season and then was on the roster for the past two seasons. However, he did not see game action this year so the move can’t be too surprising. This frees up an extra roster spot for the current recruiting class.

8:18am UPDATE (MV)

Only 4 committed recruits have not gotten their letters of intent in yet today. DL Draco Bynum, DL Mosiah Liu, LB Zion Tupuola-Fetui, and LB Brandon Kaho. Zion is in Hawaii which means it’s another 45 minutes before he can sign at 7am Hawaii time. Brandon Kaho is signing at 11:15am at his school in Reno so expect his later this morning. Don’t freak out. Mosiah Liu is supposed to be part of a signing ceremony at 5:30pm tonight so we’ll see if he waits to send in the paperwork until after that has concluded. Draco Bynum is the lone recruit I can’t find a specific reason for why he hasn’t gotten his paperwork in yet but he’s been 100% solid for months so there shouldn’t be any concern.

7:59am UPDATE (CL)

Technical difficulties have led to our Sam Taimani and Richard Newton posts not getting put online. Rest assured that their documents are in and that they are Dawgs in the house.

7:36am UPDATE (MV)

Arizona CB Dominique Hampton got his signed LOI in today. He was one of the few UW commits of whom there was a little bit of concern although he did state this weekend after his official visit that he’d be signing today. As of right now UW has announced 12 of their expected 18 commits. No surprises yet.

6:25am UPDATE (CL)

UW has two recruits in. One guy that won’t be coming in is DB Dmitri Stanley. The Colorado commit was seen as a possible fall-back plan for Jimmy Lake and UW. Stanley opted to honor is commitment and sent in his paperwork to Colorado this morning.

5:59am UPDATE (CL)

Jackson Sirmon is officially the first Dawg in the House!

5:08am UPDATE (CL)

The Huskies have 18 recruits committed to the class with almost all of them expected to sign this morning. There might be some drama around a couple of them - keep your eye on fast-rising Dominique Hampton - as well as a name or two that may not be on the current commit list. But also keep in mind that there are not often surprises on signing day with Chris Petersen at the helm.
