With the Husky class almost wrapped up and some big targets off the board, it's a good time to discuss how the Husky staff will close out the 2017 class.
Currently there are 17 players committed to UW:
Salvon Ahmed, 4-star Athlete out of Juanita HS, WA.
Henry Bainivalu, a 4-star OL from Skyline HS, WA.
Hunter Bryant, a 4-star TE out of Eastside Catholic HS, WA.
Terrell Bynum, 4-star WR out of St John Bosco HS, CA.
Alex Cook, a 4-star WR out of Sheldon HS, CA.
Jake Haener, a 3-star QB out of Monte Vista HS, CA.
Ty Jones, a 3-star WR out of Provo HS, UT.
Brandon McKinney, a 4-star DB out of Orange Lutheran HS, CA.
Elijah Molden, a 4-star DB out of West Linn HS, OR.
Ariel Ngata, a 4-star LB out of Folsom HS, CA.
Cade Otton, a 3-star LB/TE out of Tumwater HS, WA.
Keith Taylor, a 4-star DB out of Servite HS, CA.
Marlon Tuipulotu, a 4-star DL out of Central HS, OR.
Joel Whitford, a 2-star punter out of Santa Barbara CC, CA.
That puts UW at 14 commits and most analysts have UW taking 17. So there are three spots left for the class.
Below is a breakdown of three guys likely to be Huskies, along with some longshots that UW might land if the coaching staff can pull off some magic:
Most Likely:
Cole Norgaard, a 3-star OL out of St Mary's HS, CA: A relative sleeper as a recruit, he was committed to Nevada but recently backed off that decision. The Huskies have offered, along with Arizona and California. He was really excited to receive his UW offer.
Nick Ford, a 3-star OL out of San Pedro HS, CA: He has been a big fan of UW for a long time and he recently got an offer once Foster Sarell was off the board. UW has offered along with Arizona, California, Oregon State, and Washington State. He seems to have coveted a UW offer for a while. Expect him to visit in late January.
Joe Tryon, a 3-star DE out of Hazen HS, WA: He is a current Washington State commit but most experts think that he is headed to Oregon or UW. UW coaches recently offered him and expect him to choose between Oregon and UW, with the hometown team having the advantage.
Longshots:
Wyatt Davis, a 5-star OL out of St John Bosco HS, CA: A longtime Ohio State commit, he has been rumored to be visiting UW next weekend. If that happens, expect UW to have a great shot at landing him.
Isiah Pola Mao, a 4-star DB out of Mountain Pointe HS, AZ: UW was considered the favorite for a while with Pola Mao, but word recently from insiders is that Arizona State and Southern Cal are the favorites. However, Jimmy Lake is a great recruiter and you can't count out UW for Pola Mao's services until Signing Day.
Austin Jackson, a 5-star OL out of North Canyon HS, AZ: He is down to Arizona State, Southern Cal, and UW. UW is rumored to be running third but Coach Pete still has an in-home visit. You can't count out UW.
Chaz Ah You, a 4-star DB out of Timpview HS, UT: He will be taking a mission, so he won’t count until the 2019 class. However, his dad works for BYU so it might be tough to pull him from BYU.
There are bound to be a few surprises but as of now, that is how I see things shaking out. Let me know what you think and as always follow me on Twitter @asieverkropp.
